TECH CLUB“The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential” - Steve Ballmer, Ex-CEO, Microsoft.
The Tech Club, NMIMS ASMSOC-
“Our mission is to Enhance and Empower the ASMSOC Community with tech-savviness that enables them to be more efficient in the dynamic workplaces of tomorrow"
The Tech Club is one of the youngest student associations of our college and was formed in 2014-2015 with the aim of bringing a more technology clad environment into our premises. As the world becomes increasingly technology-dependent, it becomes even more necessary that to be successful citizens, students must learn to be tech-smart. It would not only help students prepare for the competent world outside, but also enable us to sharpen our professional abilities.
Many businesses are going online. To start a new business or to flourish in the competitive market, companies are increasingly choosing to have an online presence/tech-based management and processes. By organizing remarkable, technology based events; we at The Tech Club are working towards making the students well-equipped with the latest technological know-hows. Keeping this in mind, following is a glimpse of the events we organised and hosted in the 2015-16 academic year:
Business Intelligence & Big Data AnalysisBusiness Intelligence and Big Data being some of the most promising career zones in the future, motivated us to organise a guest lecture by Dr Suresh Kumar, an Senior Developer from Oracle and one of the pioneers in Big Data Analytics who educated us in depth about the other side of the Internet, the side that processes and stores data and the technologies involved as well as the future of such technology. There was also a Q&A session where students could address their doubts, have an open discussion, and in turn learn more about the subject.
Adobe Photoshop WorkshopPhotoshop, one of the leading tools used for photo retouching and editing indeed comes handy for anyone and everyone. Experts from Arena Animation came in and taught us through live practical sessions and tutorials on everything from basic tools to high-end photo repair and manipulation. At the end of the two day workshop a certificate by Arena Animation was awarded to all participants upon completion of an online assignment that tested their learning as an outcome of the workshop.
WordPress WorkshopDid you know that about 22% of all websites are powered by WordPress? It generates thousands of job opportunities around the world in the form of increased visibility producing successful enterprises, and there are thousands of e-commerce websites making money using WordPress.
Considering our student base of budding entrepreneurs and bloggers, or people who just love to write, we concluded the year with this WordPress workshop which covered the A-Z of WordPress and how to create a website from scratch without needing any knowledge of coding/ programming languages. The workshop was hosted by Mr. Harsh Vardhan Tiwari, who is a Senior Software Engineer at TCS.
With these events, we provided technological know-how, created awareness and started to bridge the gap between education and professional requirements in terms of technological usage, and we promise to work towards providing more informational, interesting and lively events in the future.
