From the 17th to the 19th of January, the NMIMS Debating Society participated in the 3rd Justice Tarkunde National Parliamentary Debate, organized by ILS College Pune. 5 students represented the college at the tournament. With about 40 teams, the Tournament is amongst the most reputed tournaments in the country, with participation from college including but not limited to IIT Bombay, NLS, VIT, Kirori Mal College, DU to name a few.
Our contingent performed extremely well with 2 Second Year Students and NMIMS Alumni, Yatharth Awtaney, Yash Rupani and Akash Date reaching the Top 8 of the tournament. Yash was also ranked as the 9th Best Speaker of the tournament out of a speaker pool of a 108 speakers.
In addition, First Year B.Sc Finance Student, Diven Nagpal won the 2nd Best Adjudicator of the tournament, Competing with about 50 of the best adjudicators of the tournament. Diven also received a cash prize of Rs 4000
Debaters learned a lot from the experienced debaters and adjudicators of the country and the world present there and the exposure and personal attention received from the aforementioned adjudicators is golden opportunity seldom to be received. We are proud to announce that SOC's DEBSOC has become a very prominent name in the CIRCLE OF DEBATERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
Viewspaper is the Official Newsletter of NMIMS School of Commerce. It also organizes events like Shutter speak : a platform for the budding photographers and writers to showcase their talents.
Viewspaper has been designed keeping the most important component of our college in mind, the students. The concept of this newsletter is to give the students a medium to voice their opinions, experiences, views, literary talents.
You could be a comic writer, simple writer, photographer, movie addict, TV show fanatic, or more, and now we provide you with a platform which will be recognized and read not only by your own colleqe-mates, but also senior executives, i.e. the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Pro Vice Chancellor, the Dean and our esteemed faculty members. What started off as a dream for us has now become a reality and Viewspaper will be published every Semester with a look back at the previous semester and the events held in that period.
2 editions shall be released. Our vision is to liberate students to fearlessly voice their views and concerns on a subject of their choice, be it about the college, city, world or the moon. The recent most initiative of INSIGNIA is THE BOOK CLUB, It announces a literary book every month and the likeminded share their opinions for the same. It has become a platform across all the schools under NMIMS.
Insignia is one of the finest literary arts club set up in ASM-SOC since the beginning of times. Its presence is now, not only an inherent but also a vital part of college life.
Insignia organizes various intra-college events-including the conventional literary games like taboo and Pictionary, events like spoof-it-up, trail-a – tail have received phenomenal response from the students of SOC and the unconventional one’s which quiz your spontaneity and creativity in the most innovative ways. We promote literary arts in a form that can be understood and appreciated by all. The experience both within the team and as a participant is truly enriching.
At Insignia, we embrace literature in all its forms and try to celebrate literature in ASMSOC. We are the literary carnival creators at ASM-SOC. Our vision is to widen this view throughout college and make every student a literature lover as literature is more than just a heavy vocabulary and flowery language. It is everything and anything you want it to be.
